The Oland Castle - Yonge Street in Halifax

What an incredible lightening storm we had here in Halifax last evening/night.  And this morning the rain has stuck around for yet another day.  When in NS you don't plan based on the weather - you do what you want regardless of the weather. So, early this morning I put on almost all of the clothes I brought for warmth and headed out for a long walk through the downtown, up to South Park Street where I also lived and down Yonge Street to the beautiful Oland Castle.  It is worth seeing when you come to this wonderful city.  I drove the area yesterday but today I wanted to walk it. Now I am soaking wet but the coffee is warm so it's all good.

Have a wonderful day wherever you are.

Love
Carol Ann

  1. It was not built for the Oland family. It was built in 1901, owned and occupied by Prussian tobacconist Alex Hobrecker. It remained in the Hobrecker family until Col. Sydney Oland bought it in 1927. It is on Young Avenue not Young Street. Here is its history: https://yadhcs.wixsite.com/youngavenue/alexander-hobrecker-mansion-lindola
