Self Publishing

Good morning to you.  I realize I don't join you hear as often as I once did so I thought I would take a few moments with you today.

I am an early morning person and today is no exception. With coffee in hand I have been at my computer once again reviewing the final draft of From the Heart.  I know what you are saying...."She said her manuscript was heading to the text design and type setting team at least a week ago."

I am still learning how difficult self publishing can be.  I am very fortunate in that I have some great people working with me.  A copy editor, a cover designer and many other eyes are helping. Yet, we find "one more thing" each day.  I chose to self publish because I want net proceeds to all go the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.  If I had gone to a publisher chances are they would have kept about 90% of the net proceeds - that is just how it works.  An author makes roughly 10% to 15% percent on each book sale.  I didn't want that to happen with From the Heart.  So, onward we go...

Dare I say it but I believe it - we are so close.  A few tweaks on Tuesday morning and we can send it off. I am sure of it.

I will keep you posted.

From the heart,

Carol Ann

It's all good.

Happy Valentine's Day to you

Happy Valentine's Day to you!  I hope you have a wonderful day doing whatever makes your day special.

I am meeting a friend for lunch but other than that I am working hard on From the Heart.  No we have not sent the manuscript off to the type setter yet - we are close though - so close.  Honestly!  I know I have said that before.

From the heart,

Carol Ann

From the Heart

From day one - when I separated 800-plus letters by year, and then by province and then alphabetically I knew that one day this would be a book.

From the Heart is very close to being finished.  Well, finished in the sense that I, and my copy editor, will sign off on the manuscript and pass it over to an expert who will handle type-setting  etc before the book goes to print.

The stories  in From the Heart speak to comfort, hope and the ripple effect of the Comfort Heart and I think you will enjoy reading each and every one of them.

All proceeds will go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic Region and I am so happy to share that we have found a sponsor who will cover all of our printing costs.  I don't want CBCF paying even one cent to cover costs related to my book - that is not what their funds are for so finding a sponsor is exciting for me.  More about our sponsor soon.

It is a sunny Sunday, the snow is on the ground but no longer falling, fairly warm outside and I think I will take myself for a walk.  Maybe I will see you out there somewhere.

From the heart,

Carol Ann

Clock is ticking ...

Hey there I have been missing you!  I am on the final count down to completing my manuscript and am on schedule so it's all good.

Got everything lined up just so and today I am trying to relax with Draft 10 (yes 10!)  I do believe the end is near...

Don't forget you can also catch up with me via e mail, Twitter and Facebook.

From the heart,

Carol Ann
