Catching up with you

So, I wore the red shoes today to have lunch with a friend - not too far to walk but far enough in the somewhat-snow-covered-sidewalks-in-my-'hood.  In any case the high heeled shoes were a mistake.  Now I am trying to restore them to their age-old-beauty of some nine years ago when I first purchased them.  That will teach me!

Oh and lunch was great, company was perfect and all that but I am really worried about my shoes.  I do have my priorities!

I miss you here on my blog and I hope all is well with you.

From the Heart - book status

Working on draft #4 of my new book From the Heart.  All proceeds from the sale of this book will go to CBCF - Atlantic.  Book contains stories about Hope, Comfort and the Ripple Effect of the Comfort Heart.   Launch mid May!  We are getting closer each day.

Feeling a bit too connected - if that is possible

Dear Faithful Readers

You already know I have a website, and a blog.  Did you know I am also on Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter? (Twitter is very recent - I wanted to surprise my son and send him a 'tweet' on his birthday January 1st so I figured it out and I did surprise him.)

I will continue to blog but you will find me here less often this year.  I am trying to "cut back" and spend more time working on my novel when I am at my computer rather than checking in with one of my many social media sites!

Hope that is okay with you and I hope you will continue to keep in touch as you normally do - via e mail. Oh yes - there is e mail too!

From the heart,

Carol Ann

From the Heart - update

Lots of typing, lots of editing, lots of changes and lots of work with my friends at the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic and my new book From the Heart is coming together very nicely.

I think you will enjoy the Comfort Heart stories I have chosen to share. Stories date back to the beginning of the fundraiser in 1996 and many are current as well.  Some stories are from my peers and some are from Holders of the Heart as young as eight years old!

We have a long way to go but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I have a meeting via conference call later this morning with my CBCF friends.  Still not sure of a release date but I may know more later today.

From the heart,

Carol Ann

Blogging problems anyone?

I am wondering if I am the only one having this problem today.

Not able to post pictures from anywhere other than  past blogging entries.  Can't post new photos from my desk top for example.  Suggestions?

Not quite summer

Took my car out for a spin just because I should drive it a bit - not much snow in downtown Toronto but lots where my family lives so won't be driving to their house for a few months.

A new Heart Rock

My friend Heather sent this photo to me this morning. Nothing will ever replace the Heart Rock that today rests on JohnD's grave site but I like the idea of a New Year and a new Heart Rock.

Heather please please send lots of details about this one..........

Cable Wharf in Halifax

A few of my Halifax friends awoke to this view today - lucky you!  Enjoy it for me please.

Paradise

It's back to the keyboard today and it feels good.  Just prior to December 31st I mailed my novel, Paradise, off to a copy editor who will look at it for me.  Paradise is now either part one of a series or part one of two.  Not sure yet but it feels good to write again. I have taken a couple weeks off.

What about you? Are you back doing what you love to do?

From the heart,

Carol Ann
PS And From the Heart is coming along well also.  It is in the capable hands of my contact at CBCF right now - first draft being kicked around. (Hopefully not being kicked around too hard ...lol)

2013 events that become memories for others

We all have an empty jar in the kitchen somewhere.  Why not begin the year with a resolution to record memories for our children and grandchildren.  I have a beautiful box that my sister Lorraine filled with dozens and dozens of ways to record memories but if you don't have a sister like mine to get you started take an empty jar and post-it-notes and begin.

It can be something as simple as a day that warms your heart. It can be a news item that your family might study in school in the future. It can be a look back as you record all of the places you have lived. Or all the jobs you have had.  Or your favourite foods.

I am sure you get the idea.

Once you begin you will feel good about doing this I guarantee.

Resolutions

I guess the picture kind of gives it away - one of my New Year's Resolutions I mean.

"Of all the things I've lost, I miss my waist the most," is a quote that many (or at least some) of you can relate to I suspect.

I am going to exercise more wisely, eat better and only track my results by measuring my waist now and then..............

Wish me luck.

Happy Birthday to a special "boy"

Happy Birthday to "The Boy"  my son James Scott.  For his 16th birthday I gave James this very cool skinny white leather tie.  We dressed up in our best black and whites and headed over to Toby's restaurant on Yonge St.  I had purchased my leather pants in Montreal and leather was ultra popular at the time - trust me!   I knew James wouldn't wear leather pants but I thought a leather tie might work - and it did.

This is one of my favourite memories.

More about capturing memories later.

Welcome to 2013

If ever a morning was meant to come with a bit of bubbly in your orange juice this is the morning! Happy New Year everyone.
