Stuart Weitzman Shoes!
Guess who these Stuart Weitzman shoes belong to.........
Me
ME
ME!!!
ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First they belonged to my friend Cheryl (thank you a million times Cheryl) and while I was home this summer she gave them to me. Actually Cheryl gave me two pair but I gave one to Connie - Stuart Weitzman is meant to be shared don't you think? Kind of like paying it forward - feet first!
The shoes kind of didn't fit us. Cheryl has narrow feet. So, we took them to a Cobbler in Bridgewater and for 12 long hours these beautiful shoes were on a machine meant to stretch the living daylights out of them. It worked for my shoes but for Connie's it only worked until we got them home and tried to walk around in them. Her stretch didn't last. Damn.
Are they comfortable? Of course not! Can I walk easily in them? Of course not!
They are show-shoes after all.
You understand right?
Tall Ships in Halifax
Miss Lexi
Lexi definitely grew lots while I was on vacation this year.
Here she is attempting to climb on her Dad's exercise machine - actually I think she is striking a pose!
Connie and Chris
When Lois returned to Grande Prairie I moved on to Bridgewater and spent several days with my sister Connie and her partner Chris. They have a beautiful home in Bridgewater and are great hosts. We visited with Shirley and I got to meet Marie - great great ladies both of them.
Connie and I shopped, laughed and talked and talked and talked - about anything and everything important to us.
I re-gifted a pair of Stuart Weitzman shoes to Connie - they had been re-gifted to me by my friend Cheryl. Stuart Weitzman shoes deserve a separate blog so later................with pictures too!
My Favourite Olympic Memories
Custio Clayton is from my neck of the woods - from my end of Canada - from Dartmouth which is a Ferry ride from what I like to call home when I am not in Toronto - Halifax. Clayton's loss to the Brit in such a stunning tiebreaker left many speechless. To be in Halifax on the day of his fight was electric. Everyone was talking about how he fought, and how he handled the decision post fight. A champion all around.
For Mark Oldershaw is was about writing a happy ending to his family's long-running Olympic saga - claiming bronze in Men's C-1 1,000 meter final.
And for Bolt - you have to love the guy. From poverty to the world stage. An Olympic champion again. Powerful story and one that small children will grow up hoping to duplicate.
Lois and I watched the Olympics every day from Halifax and from Mavillette. Not always during the day but we saw the repeat performances nightly and it was fun to share it with my sister.

66 Year Old "Jugs"
Milk jugs that is! What did you think I meant?
This year I was at home for Nancy's birthday and I got to celebrate with Nancy and her daughter Shelley. I found these old milk jugs in an antique shop in Port Maitland - painted in Christmas scenes.
Each year Nancy and her husband David host an open house just before Christmas and I have always envied the work she does in preparation for the event. She prepares food for months in advance I am sure. Not only could I not do this - I don't even know what some of the food is called, so I couldn't even order it!!
This year Nancy will have a little bit of me there in the form of this small gift.....Happy Birthday to you again my friend.

What it truly means to be a sister
I have written about Betty, Natalie, Rosalie, Audrey and Melva before. Five sisters in their own home in Halifax Nova Scotia. Sharing the good times and the bad if there are any. Sharing expenses and helping each other out as needed. Making sure there is an extra gift if one of the sisters goes that extra mile to help.
Melva, Betty and Natalie (hope I have that right) all worked with my mother during her career at the Halifax Infirmary. Mom entered the work force at the age of fifty when she found herself alone with two young daughters to raise. Mom shared a birthday with Rosalie (?) and they celebrated annually together. There was always a huge smile on her face when mom spoke about 'the sisters' as we came to call them.
Lois and I had a fabulous dinner in their backyard during our vacation and for dessert - no we did not eat this pie - we had another wonderful pie and they sent us home with this treat and two forks. We had it for a snack later that evening and I have to admit I had another piece for breakfast the next day! Oh my!!
My month at home this year went all too quickly. I have so much to share and wanted to begin with 'the sisters.'
