Rest in Peace my friend Hazel Gillespie

I can't say enough about my friend Hazel Gillespie. 

I first met Hazel in the 1997-1998 time frame when my Comfort Heart Initiative was new.  Her employer, Peter-Canada, was one of my biggest supporters thanks to Hazel's efforts and support. Born in 1950 Hazel died way too young from this killer disease we know as cancer.  She battled breast cancer first and then again and again and again.  Cancer would not leave her alone.

If you Google Hazel's name you will read her obituary.  She wrote it herself. So like Hazel! Today there will be a Celebration of her Life held in Calgary and I believe Hazel prepared a video to be played during the Celebration. Again,so like Hazel!

R.I.P. Hazel. In your memory I will do all I can to help Wellspring Calgary.

Living his dream

My son is living his dream as a CSIA Level 4. I remember the day so well when he called to say "I got it - I got my 4."  He was so happy.

Today James begins a week of examining others who are trying to get their own Level 4 and he is thrilled to be doing so.

These pictures were taken a lifetime ago when James was about 8 or 9 years old and enjoying the ski hills to the fullest.  It is so important to encourage our children have their dreams.

With Tracey and their two wonderful children James has his dream and so much more.  I am so proud of him.

Baggage

We all carry baggage - it is unfortunate that those throwing stones at Halifax Mayor Peter Kelly are seemingly unwilling take time to check their own baggage.

Mayor Kelly has given 27 years of his life to public service and we repay him by throwing him under the bus!  Shame on you Halifax.

Lexi's new resting place...

The picture says it all don't you think?  Notice that Lexi emptied the drawer before crawling in for awhile.  I am heading north to visit with family for a few days this weekend.  I am sure I will return with at least a few pictures to share.
