This just in...

... in to the Halifax Harbour that is.  I love this harbour - working harbour 24/7!

I am sitting in the window of my hotel room keeping one eye on the harbour and proofreading a few pages of my novel, Paradise -- just for a change of pace today.

Halifax Harbour

Early morning with coffee in hand - this is my view for the week. I don't see the buildings or the cars - only the view and I love it.  Even the sun has joined me. Hello Halifax, it is good to be home.

Halifax book launch

Thanks to Jeannie White for the gift of the Nova Scotia pen. I will use it on Tuesday when we launch From the Heart in Halifax.  Very excited to be in Halifax for a few days.

Strawberry Moon

Strawberry moon over Bridgewater last evening. Had a lovely dinner (supper) outside with Chris and Connie.

I have been very spoiled during my time in the Valley - such a wonderful place to be.

Friends

Yes it was cold enough for a fire this morning in Kentville.   Enjoyed this view as I enjoyed my first cup of coffee earlier today.

Thanks to Gary and Heather for opening their home to. me. I love this house.

Halifax and then Kentville

Lunch at the Halifax farmer's market - I miss this view (not so much the dreary weather but it is NS after all.)

Took in an art show where my dear friend Carol Bond was showing some of her paintings. She is an amazing artist and I was glad I got to support her at the event.

Soooo nice to  be home!

Tomorrow - Halifax!

I am anticipating a smooth ride and a safe touch down in Halifax tomorrow morning!  Taking off is always exciting when I am going 'home' to Nova Scotia.

Not sure how often I will be able to blog but will be in touch as often as possible.

Kentville Tuesday, Mavillette Wednesday with Middleton the following Tuesday and Halifax the Tuesday after that - I figure I have shown the dates here enough times that you must be sick of hearing them!

I hope to raise lots of money for CBCF. Wish me luck.

Trying new things

Trying new things sometimes requires taking that jump into the unknown.

Friday is always a good day to do that I find.

Have a great Friday everyone.

Bell's "In Touch"

If you read "In Touch" check out pg 11 in the current issue just out today.  Thank you to my friends at Bell for your words about From the Heart. Much appreciated.

(In Touch is for Bell pensioners for my non-Bell friends here - sorry!)

From the year 2002

When my first book came out I had a number of book signings from coast to coast (thank you ECW Press!) and when I was on my home turf (Yarmouth, or Pubnico?) I met Karen and her daughters Amy and Stephanie. Amy was 9 years old sitting my knee in this photo.  All three ladies are going to drive from Pubnico next week to be at my book signing in Mavillette - Amy will be driving her new car (and she won't be able to sit on my knee either!)

I will post a current photo of the girls next week - or as soon as I can following the Mavillette event.

Judy, Sam and JC

This is similar to the pix I recently posted but just a little bit different. Judy sent this one on to me earlier this morning and I thought I would share it with you.  I so value my time with my "Logistics" friends from my Bell days.

Happy Wednesday all.

Ah - ha!  I always suspected this to be true!

C B C F

Latest addition to my carry-on luggage for a three week trip to Nova Scotia.  Honestly, doesn't every volunteer with CBCF need at least one pair of pink and orange shoes??

My Monday Morning thought for you

There is so much truth to this.

Looking Forward not back...

I am always telling others to not look back. (You are not going that way.)  So, I liked the above when I saw it on facebook earlier today.

It speaks volumes don't you think?

Reflections

Thinking of Doug Bender and his family today. Doug's wife, Elaine, passed away recently and was laid to rest about a week ago. Now the hard work begins.  My heart goes out to you...xoxo

All of your Rouge River friends from the very early 80s are sending you hugs and positive energy.

June dates in Kentville, Mavillette, Middleton and Halifax for book signings

Don't Be Afraid to Try Something New

You never know - you might like it!!

Keeping in touch

Keeping in touch almost 20 years after leaving Bell is not always easy. Especially when no one lives close by.

JC, Sam, Judy and I are very good at making sure we work on our friendships and also that we meet in person at least once a year.  For the last few years we have meet at my condo and 'do lunch' in my 'hood. After lunch we walk around a bit before they all get back into their cars and head home...until we do it again.

Friendships are important.   Friendships require attention and work.  Friendships are worth the work.

Thanks my friends.

Crazy Hair Day at School

I am pretty sure he won, don't you think?  This is definitely crazy hair!!

You've Got Mail

We hardly ever send snail mail any longer - and therefore we hardly ever receive snail mail.   Lynda mailed some Fifth Avenue earrings to me recently inside this card...I love it!

The lady's hair is actually all over the card. I am going to keep it for Lexi to enjoy.

A new sport for JJ

I think one of the only team sports left for Jalen to try was baseball and he did that a few days ago.  Home run his second at-bat - he loves it!

Jalen favours team sports I believe. He is a great team player...proud of you Jalen.
