This is worth the trip if you like Ashley's and car racing too.  Very cool!

Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal

I have some fresh memories this morning to store in Jalen and Lexi's time capsule.

James came to Roy Thompson Hall with me last evening where I, along with 599 others (!) received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal. There were some official photos taken so I hope to have those to share with you eventually.

Distinguished presenters were selected to present the medals.  We were broken up into groups of about 35 and I was fortunate to receive my medal from non other than Norman Jewison.  That in itself was an honour.

We were entertained by Susan Aglukark, Molly Johnson, Ben Heppner, Stuart McLean and Gordon Lightfoot.  Peter Mansbridge was the Master of Ceremonies - he is very funny and did an excellent job.  Clearly there are many sides to Peter.

It was a wonderful evening and an event I was proud to be part of.

Have a great Tuesday my friends.

Me and my shoes!

I couldn't resist sharing this cartoon with you.

These women are looking at each other and wondering, "How does she walk in those things." As you can see, their shoes are very very different.  So funny don't you think?

Hope it makes you smile as you begin your week.

Now, what shoes will I wear this evening?

Here comes another week

There are times when everything seems to be an uphill climb.  If today is one of those days for you - reach as high as you can (as Lexi did here at the park) and you will find something to hang on to.

Have a gentle Monday.

From the Heart ...

I saw this on facebook today and wanted to share it with you here.  Even if you have seen it once I think the warmth makes it worth a second look.

I have a busy next few days so may not share with you again until Sunday.

Until then ...

Apple Blossoms

I just uploaded this photo to my facebook page but for my friends here who are not on facebook I wanted to share with you as well.

We grew up going to the Apple Blossom Festival parade each year, and each year we would drive through the Valley to view the beautiful apple trees as they proudly displayed their blossoms.

As a child I didn't appreciate the beauty of it all - I do now!

My friends...

My friends JC, Judy and Sam were in town yesterday and we spent a wonderful few hours catching up going way back to our "Bell days" together.

Since my retirement in 1994 we have worked hard at keeping in touch and spending time together at least once a year.  Although, it isn't really work when friendship is involved.

This quote reminds me of my "Logistics" friends. I am proud to call each of them my friend, and hope they will always feel the same way about me.  I will never take them for granted, judge them or interrupt when they are speaking to me.

I love you my friends,

Carol Ann

Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebration

Ah, one more picture - in today's National Post this picture of Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth 11, Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. Taken on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the finale Tuesday.  Love it!

Diamond Jubilee Concert

Did you happen to catch the Concert last evening?  Talk about entertainers from every generation - they were all there.

I think the Queen had a great evening by the many smiles she shared over the few hours and who (at any age) could match her level of energy?

Prince Charles flanked by Sir Paul and Sir Elton - really?  He did a great job though and spoke directly from the heart which is not something we always see or hear from him.

My mother would have been proud.

Mavillette Beach Nova Scotia

Can't wait to visit Mavillette Beach this summer.  Cape View Motel & Cottages, by the way, is a great place to stay if you are heading that way for your summer vacation.

My vacation is still more than a month away but I am already looking forward to walking the beach.

He's not tall or dark or all that handsome...but....

There is something about him though.....don't you think?

Fine Wine

You have to smile at this yes?

Saying "No"

I have always believed in total honesty even if means hurting someone with the facts.

It is so easy to answer a friend's question with the answer you know they are hoping to hear.  Perhaps that is why they ask you in the first place - they know you will tell them what they want to hear even if it means not being truthful with them.

During my Bell career and following that with my speaking business I have found that the truth wins no matter what so it is best to begin with the truth. You will have to go there in the end so best to get it over with especially if the truth hurts.

I lost a friend once by speaking what I believed to be the truth and something they needed to hear.  In that case, the truth hurt both of us.  To this day I am comfortable with my decision to speak the truth and from my heart.

The Queen

I realize this photo was not taken during the current festivities but I love it!

My mother would have been watching the coverage of The Queen's Diamond Jubilee this past weekend non stop.  And, my mother would have loved every second of it.  I missed much of the coverage on Sunday but am sure it will be replayed many times over the next few days.

Are you a Royal-watcher?

Never too young to exercise

Last family picture from this past weekend I promise (for now.)

Work to be Done

While Jalen kept busy for the moment with 'all things technology,' Lexi's choice of fun is to take her face cloth and dust the furniture.  Love it!   She moved on to the floor, the mirrors and balcony doors before taking a break . . .

Wheels on the Bus (Pink Bus)

When Lexi was born my friends at CBCF gave me this pink bus for her.  After taking  a picture of her playing with the bus I tried (not too successfully ) to have her pose with her bus.  Thinking I might want to take her bus away,  she silently walked away.

Sunday morning comin' down

Jalen wasn't prepared to smile with his mouth full of cereal but at least he looked at the camera.  Lexi is totally thinking about food food and more food - she slept from 7 30 last night until 5 30 this morning........not bad as long as she has a nap later!

Guess who came to visit?

Both Jalen and Lexi are with me for a sleep over. It is Hockey Night in Canada so Jalen and I are all set - Lexi, not so much!

Ah those high heeled shoes!

Beautiful sunrise

I am thankful for every beautiful sunrise - and all other forms of weather as well. Like today for example - rain rain rain.  We can't complain with the weather we have had this 'Spring' which began mid March as I recall.

Have a gentle Friday my friends.

July 28th, Wilmot Nova Scotia

A reminder to my Wilmot Public School friends - our reunion is fast approaching.  If each of us shares with one more person we should be able to fill the school yard don't you think?  See you there.
